“Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.” It was there the whole time. A message passed through the ages, provided at birth. We just never realized it.
You know how dreams tend to go this way and that, sending us on a wild ride? If life is dreamlike, then it’ll tend to take us on crazy adventures. Once we discover we’re dreaming, we can consciously control what’s happening, influencing outcomes. Life is a lucid dream once we realize it.
If our dreams are naturally pleasant, that’s great, we can sit back and enjoy. If our dreams are typically dreary, then we have some work to do. We’ll have to employ our awareness, not allowing ourselves to get caught up in the story. Then we’ll have to purposefully imagine preferable outcomes.
Now consider the repetitive nature of this nursery rhyme — it’s part the message. Over and over we must practice, monitoring our thoughts and imagining our preferences. And that’s it folks, it’s all childlike delight from then on out.
