Malleable Dream

If we develop within a particular environment, shouldn’t we be perfectly suited to our surroundings? Yet many of us feel as though we’re poor transplants, as if we don’t quite fit. But of course, we do fit — this world is comprised of stories, and we have the ability to conceive and believe pleasing narratives about our individual lives.

The tragedies of life are not related to particular circumstances, but to negatively constructed narratives. Placed upon a simple path of maturation and decay, the way in which we frame life’s ongoings determines triumph or tragedy.

External circumstances proceed as they always do, but their underlying reasoning can be made favorable. When we feel as if we don’t belong, it simply means our adopted narrative needs improvement. And in this way, life becomes a malleable dream.
